#1 – From WV LIVING – Rollie Pollie’s finds a permanent home in Star City
What started as an idea involving leftover egg roll wrappers has grown into one of West Virginia’s favorite food truck success stories.
Rollie Pollie Egg Roll Factory, founded by Anthony and Megan Pierce, has traded its wheels for a permanent location in Star City. The couple first started experimenting with creative egg rolls while operating sober living houses in Pennsylvania during the pandemic. Their food trailer eventually became a popular food truck, serving festivals, concerts and community events around Morgantown.
The business earned WV Living’s Best Food Truck award three years in a row, from 2023 through 2025. In April 2026, the Pierces opened Rollie Pollie’s Takeout and Catering at 3421 University Avenue in Star City. The expanded menu includes burgers, sandwiches, salads, vegan options and the egg rolls that made them famous.
Customer favorites include the Crack Chicken Eggroll, Mountaineer Mac Eggroll and a cheesesteak made with tenderloin.

#2 – From METRO NEWS – $1.5 million investment strengthens Kanawha County emergency response
Kanawha County emergency responders have two new pieces of equipment to help protect residents when disaster strikes.
County officials recently unveiled a mobile emergency command center and a new fire engine at the Shawnee Sports Complex in Dunbar. The equipment represents more than $1.5 million in federal and local investments, including more than $1 million for the command center and more than $500,000 for the fire engine.
Kanawha County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director C.W. Sigman says the mobile command center will provide a central location for coordinating responses to major fires, floods, chemical emergencies and other disasters. It’s equipped with radio and satellite communications, giving emergency personnel a place to manage operations in the field.
The new fire engine will serve as shared backup equipment for fire departments throughout Kanawha County. It’s designed to handle large commercial fires while remaining maneuverable enough for many of the county’s narrow roads.
#3 – From GAZETTE-MAIL – Blenko Glass raises more than $85,000 to help West Virginia children read
A West Virginia glassmaking tradition is helping put books into the hands of thousands of children.
Blenko Glass Company in Milton presented a check for $85,259 to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of West Virginia through its Glass for Good fundraising program. The donation follows sales of more than 6,000 handcrafted glass suncatchers celebrating Dolly Parton’s life, music and commitment to childhood literacy.
The collection features two designs. One turquoise suncatcher includes a guitar, book and butterflies. The other, made in citrine glass, features butterflies and the words I Will Always Love You. Each sells for $28, with a portion of proceeds supporting the Imagination Library.
The donation is the largest in Blenko’s Glass for Good history. The company hopes to reach $100,000 through the campaign.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides free, age-appropriate books to children from birth to age five. In West Virginia, the program serves approximately 50,000 children and families annually.
