75 Peaks Challenge, Tourism Leadership & State Park Waterfalls

#1 – From POCAHONTAS TIMES – WV man celebrates 75th birthday by climbing 75 peaks

When Pocahontas County resident Mark Mengele turned 74, he set a goal of summiting 75 peaks before his 75th birthday — and he did just that. The avid outdoorsman climbed mountains across several states, including West Virginia’s highest point, Spruce Knob. A former superintendent of Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park, Mengele now spends his retirement exploring the hills of Almost Heaven.

#2 – From MY BUCKHANNON – Upshur County Convention & Visitors Bureau names new executive director

The Upshur County Convention & Visitors Bureau has appointed a new executive director to guide tourism promotion and community events in the region. Cadence Ringer, a lifelong Upshur County resident, brings experience in marketing and hospitality, positioning the bureau to strengthen regional tourism and economic development efforts.
