#1 – From AEROSPACE MANUFACTURING – Touchstone expansion boosts West Virginia aerospace manufacturing

Touchstone Advanced Composites has completed a major expansion of its facility in Triadelphia, strengthening West Virginia’s position in the aerospace and defense industries.

The expansion increases production capacity for advanced composite materials made from coal-derived carbon foam, used in aircraft and defense systems. The facility is expected to support significant growth, with plans to double its workforce and expand aerospace manufacturing capabilities.

Leaders say the project demonstrates how West Virginia’s traditional resources can be transformed into high-tech applications, driving innovation and job creation in advanced manufacturing.

#2 – From WVU TODAY – WVU brings AI and data analytics into the classroom

West Virginia University is equipping students with real-world skills through hands-on learning in artificial intelligence and data analytics.

An assistant professor is leading projects where students build solutions using applied AI, helping them develop problem-solving skills that translate directly to industry needs. The program emphasizes practical experience, preparing graduates for careers in technology, research, and innovation.

#3 – From BRIDGE VALLEY CTC – BridgeValley expands workforce training with new grant

BridgeValley Community & Technical College has received funding to expand its welding and advanced manufacturing training programs.

The grant supports new equipment, expanded training capacity, and enhanced curriculum — helping prepare students for in-demand careers in skilled trades. Leaders say the investment strengthens West Virginia’s workforce pipeline and supports industries across the state.
