#1 – From WV PRESS – Help put a face on West Virginia entrepreneurship
West Virginia’s newest office for entrepreneurs is asking West Virginians to help shape its identity.
The West Virginia Office of Entrepreneurship, launched July 1, is inviting entrepreneurs, designers, students, business owners and community members to submit ideas for its new logo.
And you don’t have to be a professional designer.
Submissions can range from a written idea or individual visual element to a completely developed logo. The goal is to create an identity that reflects the people, ideas and entrepreneurial spirit helping build West Virginia’s future.
The new office serves as the state’s representative for entrepreneurs and small business owners, helping bridge the gap between government requirements and what the private sector needs to successfully create new businesses.
Logo ideas are due August 31.
#2 – From WV GAZETTE-MAIL – New leadership for Huntington tourism
A familiar face in Huntington tourism is taking on a new leadership role.
Anna Adkins has been named the new president and CEO of the Huntington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, building on more than a decade of experience promoting the Huntington region.
Adkins joined the CVB in 2013, beginning as Visitors Center Supervisor before moving into sales and eventually becoming Director of Sales and Marketing. A Ceredo-Kenova native and Marshall University graduate, she has helped promote Cabell and Wayne counties as destinations for visitors, meetings, sporting events and group travel.
Her new role puts a longtime advocate for the region at the helm of the organization responsible for growing tourism and sharing Huntington’s story with visitors.
#3 – From WV EXPLORER – Farm to Table Dinner Series returns to WV state parks
The annual West Virginia State Parks Farm-to-Table Dinner Series kicks off today, August 21, at Chief Logan State Park.
The series will bring special dinners to 11 state parks, with each culinary team creating its own menu from ingredients sourced from West Virginia farms and producers. No two dinners are the same, giving guests a taste of both the season and the region surrounding each park.
The series continues through November with stops at Cacapon, Twin Falls, Hawks Nest, Holly River, Canaan Valley, Blackwater Falls, Tygart Lake, North Bend and Pipestem.
Visit wvstateparks.com/programs/farm-to-table-dinners to purchase tickets. Many parks are also offering lodging packages, so dinner can become an entire Almost Heaven getaway.
