#2 – From WVU Magazine

WVU students in the animal health sciences program are researching West Virginia’s elk population to assure the herd stays healthy. With potential future relocations in mind, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources will use the WVU researchers’ data to identify individual elk or groups with adaptations that will give the animals a higher chance of success when moved. Their work highlights the essential role young innovators play in shaping West Virginia’s scientific future.

Sandy Hunt believes youth are at the heart of community development. She’s spearheading initiatives that empower young people to participate in planning projects, local events, and leadership training. With engaging programs and mentorship, Hunt is showing that investing in youth today fuels stronger towns tomorrow.
