…and now for the rest of the stories…on today’s daily304.com!
#1 – From WV NEWS – Fall is calling in Almost Heaven
West Virginia’s mountains are putting on a show, and Tourism officials expect another busy fall season.
The state’s varied elevations help create one of the longest fall color seasons in the country. Leaves can begin changing at higher elevations in September, while lower elevations may hold onto their color into late November. A weekly foliage forecast helps travelers follow the color as it moves across the state.
But fall travel here goes well beyond the leaves. Scenic train rides, hiking, cozy cabins, festivals, whitewater rafting and the Hatfield-McCoy Trails give visitors plenty of reasons to make a trip. There’s also a new Almost Heaven Swing BINGO Challenge encouraging travelers to check in at nearly 60 swing locations around the state.
And then there are the ghosts. West Virginia’s Paranormal Trail has tapped into growing interest in haunted places, folklore and mysterious Mountain State history.
#2 – From THE REAL WV – Ready to get spooked?
October brings ghost stories, paranormal investigations and Halloween adventures to communities across West Virginia.
In Logan, the Shadows of Logan walking tour takes visitors through historic downtown by lantern light while sharing local ghost stories and legends. In Weston, the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum offers a six-hour nighttime ghost hunt inside its historic main building.
Families can climb aboard the Cass Halloween Train Oct. 30-31 for an evening trip to Whittaker Station. There’s hot chocolate around the campfire, a haunted cemetery, an abandoned logging camp and Halloween treats for the kids. And in Lewisburg, Miller’s Haunted Farm is bringing cryptids, beasts and things lurking in the darkness every weekend in October.
Ghost walks. Haunted trains. Paranormal investigations.
Pick your level of spooky and go.
