#1 – From WORKFORCE WEST VIRGINIA – Find your next opportunity without leaving home
Looking for a job? Or looking for your next great employee?
WorkForce West Virginia’s Statewide Virtual Job Fairs are designed to bring both sides together. The next event is Wednesday, September 2, giving job seekers an opportunity to connect online with employers hiring across West Virginia. Participants can apply for positions, live chat with employers and even interview by video during the event. And these virtual job fairs have some serious reach. By July, the program had attracted more than 39,000 registered job seekers and 5,400 registered employers since the statewide virtual fairs began three years ago. Employers can create virtual booths to showcase their organizations and connect directly with candidates, while job seekers have access to training resources before the event. The September 2 fair is followed by additional statewide virtual events on October 7 and November 4.

#2 – From WEST VIRGINIA STATE PARKS – Take in some of Almost Heaven’s best views
Summer may be winding down. But the views aren’t going anywhere. West Virginia State Parks has rounded up 10 spectacular overlooks that offer everything from easy roadside scenery to hikes with a serious payoff. At Hawks Nest State Park, visitors can look down on the New River from 585 feet above. Take the 3.8-mile White Oak Trail at Lost River State Park and Cranny Crow Overlook rewards you with a panorama stretching across five counties in West Virginia and Virginia. At Watoga, the Ann Bailey Lookout Tower offers 360-degree mountain views. Coopers Rock looks out across the Cheat River Gorge. And a short, mostly flat walk at Blackwater Falls leads to Lindy Point and its spectacular view of Blackwater Canyon. The list also includes Summersville Lake, Carnifex Ferry, Droop Mountain, Seneca State Forest and Pipestem.

#3 – From WEST VIRGINIA PRESS – Helping West Virginia farmers markets grow
A cooler. A new tent. Better displays. Even a little technology.
Sometimes relatively small investments can make a big difference for a local farmers market. The West Virginia Farmers Market Association has opened applications for its 2026 Mini-Grant Program, offering eligible West Virginia markets up to $5,000 per project. The program is funded by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. Funds can help markets purchase equipment including refrigeration, tents, shade structures, tables, storage, signage, technology and promotional materials. Traditional farmers markets aren’t the only ones eligible. Roadside stands, on-farm stands, mobile markets, consignment markets and online markets may also qualify if they meet program requirements. Applications are due September 18, with first-time applicants receiving a scoring bonus.
It’s a practical investment in the markets, producers and communities helping put West Virginia food on West Virginia tables.
