#1 – From WV ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT – Manufacturing partnership brings jobs to WV

Sandvik and Alpha Metallurgical Resources has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing operation in the state through a $25 million investment expected to create at least 120 new jobs. Leaders say the investment reflects continued momentum in West Virginia’s manufacturing sector and reinforces the state’s position as a destination for large-scale industrial growth.

#2 – From WV LIVING – Film celebrates legendary whitewater paddlers

Hear the stories of the first people to kayak West Virginia’s steepest whitewater in “Freeland: A Blackwater Story,” streaming on YouTube now. The documentary, produced by Justin Harris and his company, Mountain River Media, has won several awards and was shortlisted to Paddling Magazine’s annual Paddling Film Festival World Tour, with screenings in 135 cities around the world in 2026.

#3 – From WV EXPLORER – National Forest expands protected land

The Monongahela National Forest has added new acreage through the acquisition of Cunningham Knob in Pocahontas County. The property includes forestland, wildlife habitat, and outdoor recreation opportunities that will now be permanently protected under federal management. Conservation leaders say the addition supports long-term stewardship while expanding public access for hiking, hunting, and outdoor recreation.
