The first-place winner, JarHead Kitchens of Monroe County, secured $3,500 in cash and $6,500 in technical help. The competition underscores the region’s momentum in entrepreneurship and business innovation.

As the 2025 buck-firearms season opens, women hunters across West Virginia are stepping up—blending heritage, conservation and community giving. From Burnsville to smaller rural counties, female hunters are participating at increasing rates, serving both sport and stewardship roles in the Mountain State’s hunting culture.
