New Citizens, Science Projects & Elk River Trail Headquarters

#1 – From WV GAZETTE-MAIL – Charleston ceremony welcomes new U.S. citizens

Twenty-seven people from 19 different countries officially became United States citizens during a naturalization ceremony at the federal courthouse in Charleston.

The ceremony celebrated the journeys, cultures, and contributions of the new citizens as they took the oath of allegiance. Community leaders say events like these reflect the welcoming spirit and growing diversity found throughout West Virginia communities.

#2 – From ENVIRONMENT MATTERS – New video spotlights students’ science projects

Students from Midland Trail and Malden Elementary schools recently had the chance to show off a year’s worth of environmental art and science projects and cut the ribbon on a bridge to a new nature trail they helped design.

#3 – From WV GAZETTE-MAIL – Elk River Trail opens visitor center

The Elk River Trail State Park has officially opened a new headquarters and visitor center along the historic rail trail corridor.

Officials say the new facility will improve visitor services while supporting tourism, outdoor recreation, and economic development throughout the Elk River region. The trail system continues attracting hikers, cyclists, paddlers, and nature enthusiasts exploring West Virginia’s growing outdoor recreation economy.
