The West Virginia Hive, the entrepreneurial program of the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority, honors Splatter & Sprout in White Sulphur Springs as the 2025 Startup of the Year. The mother-daughter team of Brooke Kelley and Stephanie Braden founded the creative play and art studio, which focuses on providing children with hands-on, open-ended experiences to explore their environment.

West Virginia University has partnered with the West Virginia Small Business Development Center to offer weekly startup support sessions for founders and entrepreneurs. The series provides guidance on business planning, access to resources, and peer support to help grow new ventures across the state.
