#2 – From WVU MEDICINE – Dr. Nicholas Baker’s Full-Circle Return to West Virginia Medicine
Hailing from McDowell County, Dr. Nicholas Baker chose college over the coal-truck route, earned his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine, spent years in robotic thoracic surgery, then returned home to serve his home state. Today he works at the WVU Heart & Vascular Institute, helping lead minimally invasive lung and esophageal cancer treatments, and mentoring students from rural backgrounds.
#3 – From WV STATE PARKS – State Parks Offer Lodging Discount for Veterans & Active Duty
In appreciation of their service, the West Virginia State Parks system is offering veterans and active-duty military personnel a special discount—50% off lodge and cabin stays during November, for stays booked online with code “VET50.” The offer covers most lodges and cabins (with a few exceptions) and allows military families to explore the state’s scenic parks at a lower cost.
