2 – From BHE RENEWABLES & WVU STEAM TAC – ‘Bright Ideas’ brings solar energy to life for middle school students

Students at Ripley and Ravenswood Middle Schools are stepping into the world of clean energy through the new “Bright Ideas” solar and battery-storage immersion classroom. Created by BHE Renewables and WVU’s STEAM Technical Assistance Center, the program teaches how solar panels collect and store energy while introducing students to the many careers behind a working microgrid.

3 – From MARSHALL UNIVERSITY – ‘The Brad Effect’: Leadership momentum at Marshall University

Marshall University’s Fall 2025 feature, “The Brad Effect,” explores how President Brad D. Smith is driving innovation, building economic partnerships, and expanding opportunities for students across Appalachia. The story highlights Marshall’s growing impact and Smith’s vision for strengthening education, entrepreneurship and regional development across the Mountain State.
