#2 – From WV PRESS ASSOCIATION – Eastern Panhandle chef and WV native chef earn James Beard semifinalist recognition

Two chefs with West Virginia ties have been named semifinalists in the 2026 James Beard Awards, celebrating their culinary excellence and contributions to the region’s food scene. Mary Ellen Diaz is executive chef and owner of Alma Bea in Shepherdstown, while Indiana chef Michael Bowe hails from the Upper Kanawha Valley. The James Beard Awards are among the top honors in American cooking and hospitality.

#3 – From WVVA-TV – WV plans new entrepreneurship office to make starting a business easier

West Virginia is moving to make starting a business easier by establishing a new entrepreneurship office within the state government. The office will coordinate resources, reduce administrative hurdles, and provide support to startups and small business owners across the state.
